With the global recession continuing to nag at the wallet of consumers everywhere, we’re all looking for ways to cut back on our bottom line while still enjoying some of our toys and other gadgetry on the cheap. The netbook, as it turns out, filled this niche quite well, and sales have continued to grow exponentially despite the economic downturn. In essence, an hp netbook allows you to have your cake it and eat it too, maximizing portability while still maintaining a full keyboard, decent monitor size, and enough processing power to get the job done.

Netbook (nettop, psion, mini notebook/laptop or subnotebook) - a small, light, low-power notebook computer that is designed basically for web browsing. It has less processing power than a full-sized laptop but is still suitable for word processing, running a Web browser and connecting wirelessly to the Internet.
Netbooks fall into a category of small sized computers. Such computers have been known by names like subnotebook, ultra-portable, mini-notebook, nettop, cloudbook and ultra-mobile PC. The name netbook is currently the most popular marketing buzzword. Typically, a netbook will have a slimmed-down operating system, a smaller keyboard, a smaller screen and smaller storage space.
Mini laptops or netbooks are the new category of laptops, they are designed as a secondary system that you can carry anywhere you go. Their size is a little bigger than a paperback book, they weigh less than 3 pounds and have battery-saving features. Mini laptop displays are about 7 to 10 inches together with about 512MB to 1GB of RAM and a traditional hard drive. Unlike other laptops, netbooks have slower energy saving processors, so games won’t run as well.
If you are in the market for a netbook here are some things to look for and watch out for:
Price: When the Toshiba Mini netbook was released, it was a little more expensive that most netbooks in the market. With the netbook market getting increasingly competitive, Toshiba has since lowered its price. The Toshiba Mini and HP mini now have almost identical prices of around $329 each, which is a good bargain for netbooks of this stature (and great news for us budget conscious consumers).
